Watermelon + Blueberry Star Wands

An easy and affordable summer treat that kids can help assemble! The perfect treat for 4th of July, camping, or to simply beat the summer heat.

Gather your materials : two (2) cutting boards, large knife, watermelon and star cookie cutter. We had to borrow the cookie cutter - I couldn't find one in any local shops, and should have ordered this set online - it would have been great to have different sizes. However, this did the trick! Thank you, neighbor.

Slice your watermelon into 1/2" rounds. It's great to let your child cut out the stars, you may need to help them get the cut-out once they press down. It was a bit tricky to pull out the star.

The next step is to gather your blueberries and skewers. Your local grocery store should carry these skewers, and they are get to use for other recipes.

Slide the blueberries on the skewers, make sure to leave roughly 2" at the top for your star!

Place your star at the top, and you are ready! I did cut up the remaining watermelon to serve with lunches the remainder of this week. With a smaller sized star, you would be able to get more out of your watermelon.

Ta-da! Refrigerate for 1-3 hours before serving. I think watermelon tastes better chilled.

Having a child or kid free celebration? Soak your watermelon in your favorite Rosé or vodka.
