Five Favorite Finds (April 2023)

Each month, I put together my five favorite finds in the following categories : beauty, travel, small shop, food, + random.

Sustainable Clothing

I joined Poshmark a few years ago, and I admit had little knowledge of how it worked. I had boxes of clothing that I hoped someday I would be able to use again, or had a difficult time donating because the clothes had sentimental value. The last reason I joined was to avoid paying full price for new clothes - especially for my children. As I've spent more time exploring and learning the tricks, I am now completely hooked. Those boxes full of children's clothes have a second chance at life, plus all of the clothes in my own closet that I avoid wearing every morning are slowly being replaced with clothes that fit my current lifestyle.

This place has been on my list for a long time. It would be a splurge trip, but it looks like it would be worth the effort to save up. Located on the coast of California, just outside of Mendocino, you can choose your own adventure. I have personally traveled to this area, and I can assure you that there is something for everyone. The town of Mendocino is approachable, charming, and refreshing. If you are traveling to this area, or looking for a weekend getaway - splurge for the Harbor House Inn and be sure to tell us all about it!

Y'all...I love this shop. Everything is adorable, and the clothing is great quality. I purchased Toy Magic, Princess, and New Magic for our 2019 Disneyland trip - they were absolutely perfect. I selected this shop for one of my favorite things because of the newest designs. If you are looking forward to the new Little Mermaid movie, love adorable clothing, or have a particular dog-cartoon on repeat : check out this shop!

Buying Local

April is the first taste of local farms coming to life. I know delicious things can be grown in winter, but spring is one of my favorite times to visit the local markets. If you can't make it to your local market, check if a local farm offers a CSA program. Often, local farms will partner together and deliver directly to your door. Some of my favorite fresh spring recipes are : Pasta with Asparagus + Prosciutto, Lemon Braised Artichokes, & Spring Risotto. The Willamette Valley had a wicked cold winter and spring, and we finally were able to visit our local market at the end of April. Crops are roughly three weeks behind here, but I am more than ready for some spring flavors!

The New 'Girls' Weekend

Sometimes you just need to get away with your girlfriends - and I'm not meaning a wild weekend that sends you home exhausted, dehydrated and wanting to crawl in your bed. You need a weekend that recharges you. I recommend a small town feel - either the middle of nowhere or a small town that you can walk to everything. Have you found the perfect location for a low-key weekend? In Oregon, I would recommend McMinnville, Pacific City, or Jacksonville.
