No matter the length of your planning process, you are bound to wake up on the morning of your wedding with a to-do list running through your mind. Here are five tips to make your wedding day morning go as smooth as possible.
NO. ONE
Eat Something.
It will be a day packed full of excitement and anticipation. Make sure you are snacking throughout the day. It's also great to provide snacks for everyone getting ready with you. Either create the boards yourself, or assign someone to help you. If you, or anyone getting ready with you, have dietary restrictions have a few things on hand that check the box.
Idea One : Slice some bagels, two types of cream cheese, lox, fresh fruit, sliced cucumbers
Idea Two : Croissants, sliced cheeses, sliced deli meats, yellow mustard, honey mustard, dijon mustard, fresh jam
Essentially, make sure you have carbs and protein. Both will give everyone the necessary energy.
NO. TWO
Communication and Expectations.
When getting ready, you will want your bridal party and select family to be with you. Two weeks prior to your wedding day, sit down and think about your timeline :
What are the times and locations everyone needs to be aware of?
Do you want any specific items at particular locations? This could be having the bridesmaids drop off dresses the day before, chilling a bottle of celebratory beverage(s), gifts for your future spouse/wedding party/family.
Assign any tasks to individuals : do you want someone to steam clothing, need someone to bring food, ask someone to make a playlist.
Do you want to have coffee or tea brought in? Ask for all orders and assign one person to be responsible for ordering and delivering.
The best thing to execute this tip : provide a clear timeline with set expectations to everyone that will be taking part of getting ready. You can do this through text, email or physical paper. If you are going to provide by physical copy, I recommend a second form - just in case. Not saying we've ever misplaced important documents!
NO. THREE
Confirm Vendors.
When booking your vendors, ask them what the contingency plan would be if they aren't able to make it. All of your vendors should have something in place...just in case. If they don't have a backup plan, or would be willing to significantly compensate you with a major issue, consider a different vendor.
Two days prior to your wedding, confirm all vendors.
I say this because my hair and make-up vendor called me at my rehearsal dinner and cancelled. However, they already had a replacement in place.
My sister-in-law was recently married, and one of her make-up artists blanked on the date, and showed up nearly four hours late. We barely made the ceremony and were stressed rushing to the ceremony site.
NO. FOUR
Exercise or Meditate.
The morning of my wedding, we had a wonderful yoga session with my father-in-law. Some of us went a little wild at the rehearsal dinner, so getting a little flow and stretch was necessary. If you typically exercise in the morning, don't break your routine! If you meditate, don't break your routine!
If you never exercise (no judgement) try finding a quiet spot and just take a moment to yourself. This will be the last moment you have before people consistently ask you questions.
NO. FIVE
Enjoy.
This might seem like a useless tip, but the day truly moves so quickly. Take in all of the moments, even the little ones. Make eye-contact with everyone and soak it in. Today is about you and your partner, but this moment is about you.
